While digital currency and exchanging payments electronically is not groundbreaking these days, PayPal is no longer the only game in town. Facebook has added in a feature to send and receive money through their Messenger.

You might not have even known that this function has actually been around since 2015. It is slowly rolling out to users on a global scale, but it is still very much in the early stages of existence in markets like the United States and being tested in the UK.

Boasting high security measures in their pin-based protection system, users can make transactions with this service for free. It can be used with your friends and family you have in the social media list, or with virtually anyone you need to exchange money with.

To use it on your Android, Apple or desktop device, you can follow the upcoming steps. Something that is universal though, is the need to have the 👉Messenger app installed on your phone.

STEP #3 – Make a Payment or Receive a Payment

By tapping on the three dots in the rectangular box, you can easily see the “Payments” option. From here you can enter an amount that you want to send along with a note describing what payment is for. All you need to do is to tap on “Pay” and the process is complete.

Requesting money is just as simple. Tap on the “Request” option on top of the screen, enter an amount you are requesting and why. Tap “Request” and the invoice will be sent.

In its early stages, you can only send money or receive money from those you have in your friends list on the social media site. You cannot use this option for people that are not currently your friends on Facebook.

Is It Safe To Use This Feature?

You will find that this new system is as secure as any other electronic transmission service online right now. It is encrypted and protected with layers of security to keep hackers and identity thieves from finding your sensitive information.

Its easy to be unsettled about this new feature, but it is no different than sharing other aspects of your life on the social media site. You just have to be careful with your information, and trust that huge internet security buffs like Facebook uphold their end of things as well.
