Frankie’s Take:
Like you, I also found myself with the same problem as you. In my case having to find out if what I believed to be a dear friend of mine had blocked me on Snapchat. Thanks to these 5 easy steps I did it, even if in the end it hurt me to lose a friend 😭.
5 Steps to to Know if Someone Blocked You on Snapchat
Here are the main actions you should take to determine if someone has blocked you on Snapchat.
Let’s take a look at these one by one…
1. Search Their Username or Full Name
The first step I would recommend to find out if someone has blocked you on Snapchat is to simply search their username or full name in Snapchat’s search bar.
If the user doesn’t show up in the search results, then you have probably been blocked.
To search for a user on Snapchat simply:
- Open the Snapchat app
- On the home screen, tap the magnifying icon in the top left-hand corner
- Enter the person’s username or full name

Frankie’s Take:
This trick could not be more simple. But here’s the kicker: it does not provide 100% confirmation that you have been blocked on Snapchat because the person may have changed their username or removed you from their friends’ list. So be prepared to try numerous methods to find out the truth!
2. Open Recent Conversations
We have another fantastic way to tell if someone blocked you on Snapchat.
All you need to do is open your message history with the user. If you can no longer find the user in your chat history, then you have been blocked.
To open recent conversations and know if has blocked you on Snapchat, just:
- Open Snapchat and sign in to your account
- On the home screen, tap, the speech bubble icon on the bottom left of your screen
- Closely inspect your conversations and see if the person is there
It gets better, if you do see their name in your chat history, you can take it a step further by trying to send them a message.
If the message says, “Failed to send your message – Tap to try again” you are probably blocked.
But make sure your internet is working because you will also receive this notification if your connection is poor.

Frankie’s Take:
Once you are 100% your internet is fine, and your message is still not sent, you can be pretty sure you have been blocked! The only other plausible reason is they have deleted their Snapchat account!
3. Search Their Name From a Different Account
Searching for a Snapchat username or full name from your account is an effective way to learn if someone blocked you on Snapchat.
However, you can make it even more powerful by searching from a different account. This is because even if you aren’t blocked, sometimes the person’s account won’t show up.
Here’s the thing, if the person’s Snapchat account is showing when you search from your friend’s phone but not when you search from yours, then you have probably been blocked!
All you need to do is grab your buddy’s phone and search for the person on their Snapchat account. Just follow the same steps in the first method:
- Open Snapchat
- Click on the magnifying icon in the top left-hand corner
- Type in the person’s username or full name

Frankie’s Take:
Don’t have a buddy’s phone you can borrow? Don’t worry, simply create a new Snapchat account and search! Furthermore, note while this method is effective, it won’t work if the person has changed their Snapchat username. So don’t go cursing the person just yet!
4. Check if Your Contact List Has the Snapchat User
Has your friend gone radio silent over Snapchat, or has your new crush gone MIA?
Then it is time to hop on to your contact list and see if they have blocked you. If they have disappeared from your contact list without explanation, they may have blocked you!
To access your contact list and quickly find out if tell if someone blocked you on Snapchat, follow these steps:
- Open the Snapchat app
- Click the chat icon on the bottom left of your screen, right next to the capture button
- Tap the New message button icon on the bottom right-hand corner of your screen
- Now you will see your contact list, carefully check every contact and see if the person is there

Frankie’s Take:
This trick can be completed in just a couple of minutes and gives a good idea if you have been blocked. But here’s the kicker: if the person has removed you from their friends’ list or deleted their Snapchat account, they also won’t show up in your contacts list.
5. Check if You Can View Their Snapchat Stories
Are you convinced you have been blocked by someone on Snapchat?
We have one final Snapchat trick to help you learn the truth! All you need to do is try to view the person’s Snapchat Stories.
If you can no longer view their stories, we are sorry to break it to you, but you may have been blocked.
To view the person’s Snapchat Stories and know if someone blocked you on Snapchat, follow these steps:
- Open the Snapchat app
- Tap the Friends icon on the bottom right-hand corner
- View the Friends section at the top of your screen
- Check out all the stories and see if the person has posted any new ones!

Frankie’s Take:
This method is great if the person is a frequent Snapchat stories poster. But here’s the deal: the person may have just taken a break from posting stories, and that is why you can no longer view them. So, this method is not quite as reliable as my other tricks!
BONUS: Do Cross-Checks
Ok, this last trick could be very useful to you.
