To use WhatsApp, you need to have contacts saved on your phone. If you save them correctly, they will automatically appear on your WhatsApp messenger. To get the most out of your WhatsApp for iPhone and Android, follow this guide on how to add a number to WhatsApp.
Hello everyone! Frankie here again to teach you another dirty little trick to help you master WhatsApp. Today it is about adding a new contact on WhatsApp.
Adding a New Contact on Whatsapp for Android
Begin with saving the contact’s name and phone number in the address book of your Android phone.
Save it in the same format that you intend to use when calling that contact if it’s a local contact. For international numbers, be sure to use the international format of saving contacts. Start with a + (plus sign) and then enter the country code followed by the contact’s phone number.
Once you save the contact’s phone number, open your WhatsApp Android app and click on the Chat Tab. Proceed by clicking on the “New Chat” button and then go to the “Menu“ button followed by the “Refresh“ button. The newly-saved contact should appear on the Chat Tab.
If it doesn’t appear there, go to the address book of your phone and verify if you enabled all contacts to be viewable or visible. Ensure that you give WhatsApp the permission to access your address book in your phone’s Settings app.
Adding a New Contact on Your Whatsapp for iPhone
WhatsApp easily and quickly recognizes your phone contacts that are currently using WhatsApp. To see which contacts are using WhatsApp on an iPhone, go the the Chat Tab and then select the “New Chat” icon .
If you want to add a new contact to WhatsApp, click on the Chat Tab and then select “New Contact” .
If the foreign number begins with any zeros, be sure to omit them.
You can also save a contact’s full phone number in an international format if that contact sends you a vCard via WhatsApp.
Adding a contact in WhatsApp (both on Android and iPhone) will automatically add it to your device’s address book. The same is true if you add a contact to the device address book, it will automatically import to WhatsApp. Additionally deleting a contact from WhatsApp will remove it from your device address book and vice versa.
Adding a Phone Number for a Specific Country on WhatsApp
WhatsApp has special rules for certain countries when it comes to saving foreign phone numbers. If you have a friend or family member based in the UK with the phone number 07921555555, begin the number with a + (plus) sign when saving it. Be sure to omit the first zero too.
The saved number should appear this way: +7921555555.
All Argentina 🇦🇷 phone numbers must comprise of a 9 between the country code and the area code.
Ensure that you remove the prefix 15 when saving the number in its international format. Argentina’s country code is +54. The saved phone number needs to have 13 digits in total.
It should also appear in this format: +54 9 xxx xxx xxx.
When working with Mexican phone numbers 🇲🇽 that rely on the Nextel network, enter 1 after the country code (+52) when saving them. They should appear in this format: +52 1 xxx xxx xxx.
If you experience difficulties when trying to save a new number, don’t hesitate to email WhatsApp’s support team with your phone number and your contact’s phone number.
Remember to send the contact’s number in the same format that you saved it in your phone. You can use the same procedure when trying to figure out how to add international numbers to WhatsApp.
